Sometimes we take for granted the simplicity of making something ourselves. Like BBQ sauce. Knowing what's in my food is comforting. I hate looking at a bottle and seeing ingredients I've never heard of before. The recipe I'm sharing was passed down from my late aunt. Aunte Gail's Finger Lickin' BBQ Sauce is very easy to make, and just like the grocery bottled sauce, you can store it in your refrigerator for a couple of weeks. This makes a large batch of BBQ sauce, enough for 8-10 servings. So be prepared to store and save some.
Auntie Gail's Finger Lickin' BBQ Sauce Ingredients
Prep time: 25 minutes
Serves: 8-10 servings
4 large garlic cloves (crushed/minced)
250 ml (1 cup) Ketchup
80 ml (1/3 cup) Soy Sauce
80 ml (1/3 cup) liquid honey
30 ml (2 tablespoons) Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
How to Make the BBQ Sauce
Combine all the ingredients in a large saucepan.
Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat. Then, reduce the heat to low.
Cook, stirring often, until the sauce has thickened, about 20 minutes.
Storing Homemade Barbecue Sauce
The sauce will keep well in a Mason jar or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freeze it for up to 3 months.
