When I was on the road for work, one of my husband's go-to meals was Hamburger Helper. Ger loved it. The kids did too, until they got sick of it. However, Ger is still a big fan. I've cobbled together this homemade, slightly healthier version, for him. It's so easy, and you only need to clean one pot.
To make this Homemade Hamburger Helper just look in your refrigerator and pantry, you will likely have the ingredients on hand.
Step 1: Add olive oil to hot pan. Sear one pound of lean or extra lean ground beef. Drain fat.
for added fiber you can shred a half a cup of zucchini or carrot and add to mixture

Step 2: Add your seasonings. And then add your pasta. I used 250 grams (1/2 pound) Elbow Macaroni. Add beef broth and milk.

Step 3: Cover the saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring often. You don't want the pasta sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Step 4: Add shredded cheese. Stir and serve.
